Behind the Mask: Harry's Actual M.O. |

The Trouble With Harry It's not only that Reid himself, as a career pol, has been living off the life blood of Nevada working men and women for over a quarter century. It's also that, behind the scenes in Washington, he's a zealous worker for the Democratic leadership's schemes to make feeding on one's fellow citizens the American norm, enforced by an always-growing federal colossus. Because Reid is cunning, he's been able to successfully masquerade for years as a more or less conservative down-home Nevadan 'from Searchlight'. But, as the non-partisan and respected Congressional Quarterly noted fifteen years ago, that's just for show. Stealthily and behind the scenes, Reid -- always 'made member' of the Democratic leadership -- has always been an active collaborator in efforts to feed the federal colossus and its favored special interests at the expense of your earnings and your liberties. Harry's had a significant, if low-profile, role in helping move America to an increasingly corrupt, two-tiered society, where those with great wealth use it to buy the exercise of federal power on their behalf, and those with federal power use it to gain great wealth. Thus it is no coincidence that, during all the years Reid has been representing Nevada in Washington, somehow the trust placed in him by working and middle-class Nevada voters has produced a situation where Harry is now one of the wealthiest millionaires in the U.S. Senate, but Nevadans -- and Americans generally -- have the least freedom since the Republic was founded. |
